The combustion of aviation fuels gives rise to emissions of Carbon dioxide, Water Vapour, Sulphur dioxide, etc. Although, Aircraft engines generally have very high combustion efficiency, not all combustion is complete. Products like Carbon Monoxide are a result of this.
We are yet to produce an emissions-free engine as a result! Ruka Africa work in every way possible to lower our impact to the environment so generations can enjoy it for years to come.
Carbon Offset
We offset the carbon produced from your Kilimanjaro scenic flight at the Yaeda Valley, south of Lake Eyasi. We do this in cooperation with the Carbon Tanzania project.
Carbon Tanzania is a social enterprise that generates carbon credits through the protection of Tanzania’s forests. These credits are then sold to individuals and companies who wish to offset their carbon footprint.

Protecting Hadza ancestral lands
The Yaeda Valley Project is an award-winning initiative that prevents deforestation in the traditional territory of the Hadza hunter-gatherers.
By protecting these forests, the project not only sequesters carbon but also secures the land rights and livelihoods of the Hadza people, preserves vital wildlife corridors, and protects indigenous biodiversity.
